calligramme Needleman
In my calligramme project, I started with writing a letter to my future self in 20 years. My letter describes my hopes and dreams of who I want to become and the person I strive to be. I hope to achieve my educational and career goals along my journey. I want to use my talents, resources, and privilege to create a positive impact on the world. I sketched a car and used illustrator tools to make the car into my calligramme piece.
I created the car to symbolize my journey of growing as a person. The journey is finding out who I am and who I want to become. In Illustrator, I used the pen tool to trace the shape of the car. I added different parts of my letter using one of the text tools and made the words into the shape of the car. The journey the car will go on is meant to symbolize and represent me and the journey I will go on as I grow.
Dear future self,
Right now, I am a freshman in college writing to you hoping this finds you in 20 years. When you receive this letter, I hope you thrive in life with an amazing career. Over the past two decades, I hope your life has been filled with a lifetime of experiences, memories, and wisdom. Sitting here trying to compose words for you I am excited about the adventures and challenges that lie ahead for you. I am also very excited and curious to find out what my future holds. Freshman year so far has been a great start to many new beginnings self-discovery/growth and creating lasting friendships. I am getting the hang of what college is like and having a great time so far. In this moment I want to reflect on where I am today and who I want to become in 20 years. In 20years, I hope you are happy with all the choices and decisions you have made that led you to a fulfilling life. I want you to be surrounded by the people who love and support you the most. The relationships you are in with friends, romantic partners, and family are hopefully everlasting and healthy. I hope that you have achieved your educational and career goals. All the long hours spent on studying and moments of doubt were allaying part of the journey. Weather you pursued the oath you initially set out on or discovered new passions along the way. I hope you wake up each day excited about the work you do knowing it makes a positive impact on you and the world. I hope you have found ways to give back to your community and the world. Along the journey I hope you used your talents, resources, and privilege to make a different and leave appositive on other people. I want you to remember the importance of kindness, empathy, and respect. Lastly, I hope you have not forgotten about the dreams and aspirations of your college freshman self. This letter is for the 20 years of growth, happiness, and achievements as a person, and I can’t wait to see the person I become. From freshman mason
